Pune Police Officers Suspended Over Porsche Crash

In a tragic incident that shook Pune, two IT engineers lost their lives in a Porsche crash on May 19. Now, as the investigation unfolds, two police officers from Yerwada Police Station are facing suspension for what’s being termed as ‘dereliction of duty’ in the initial response to the case.

Police Inspector Rahul Jagdale and Assistant Police Inspector Vishwanath Todkari have been suspended pending inquiry. According to reports, they mishandled the investigation and failed to promptly inform the wireless control room about the incident.

This suspension comes as a result of internal inquiries conducted by Assistant Commissioner of Police, indicating prima facie negligence on the part of the officers involved in the first response to the case. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed the transfer of the case to the Crime Branch, signaling a shift in the investigation.

The tragic accident occurred when a speeding Porsche, allegedly driven by a 17-year-old boy under the influence of alcohol, collided with the victims’ motorcycle at Kalyani Nagar junction. The loss of Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both IT engineers from Madhya Pradesh, has deeply saddened the community.

Furthermore, the investigation has revealed disturbing details, including allegations against the father of the juvenile driver, who reportedly handed over the keys of the car despite knowing his son’s age and lack of driving experience.
